Kitty Joseph

Meet my favourite rainbow queen, the incredible British fashion designer and all-around woman extraordinaire Kitty Joseph.

A former textile obsessive turned full-blown colour evangelist, Kitty builds clothes that celebrate bodies, moods and maximal joy. Her collections are rooted in bold prints, clever cuts and a rare mix of humour and heart, all made ethically and with inclusivity baked in, not bolted on.

  • You, in a nutshell?

A dreamer in colour—designing inclusive, mindful clothing and spaces to uplift hearts, homes, and horizons.

  • Where is home?

    Beautiful Brighton.

  • What did you wanna be when you grow up?

    An inventor or an archeologist.

  • What did you become?

    An inventor of prints.

  • The best gift you ever received?

A bedroom makeover, aged 9: blue walls, green ceiling, and orange woodwork.

  • The best gift you ever gave?

A ‘housewarmer’ - a Chroma Grey Floor_Story Rug for my cousin’s family on the Isle of Skye.

  • Your most prized possession?

    My Floor_Story Chroma Green Rug.

  • A coveted yet clearly unaffordable item?

I’d learn to drive for an Alpha Romeo 1900 C52 Disco Volante.

  • If you were an object?

One of the jazzy deckchairs createdfor Greenwich Peninsula’s Summer programme.

  • A pastime?

Stomping over the South Downs until I get mildly lost.

  • A proud moment?

Kylie Minogue in my Optik Dress at Brighton Pride. I’m half Aussie, so this was a biggie.

  • A vintage crush?

A young Jay Kay. A triple threat: dancing, singing and ridiculous hat wearing.

  • A side hustle?

Dressing spaces in colour like my Chromatic River Walk in Greenwich launching this July.

  • A scoop?

The Pastel pleated skirt. So excited about this one.

  • A contemporary kindred spirit?

Liz West. I did a fashion show at her gorgeous installation at Greenwich Peninsula’s Tide.

  • An all-time hero?

    Kate Bush.

  • Who do you want to bewhen you grow up?

Joni Mitchell, holding hands with David Hockney.
