Folka

Run by art historian and pajaki maker Karolina Merska out of a shop in Stoke Newington, London, Folka is a love letter to Polish folk art and the women who made it. The name, a portmanteau of polka and folk, says everything. Karolina sources and sells handmade ceramics, textiles, glassware, jewellery and stationery from Poland, alongside her own pajaki, the rye straw and paper chandeliers dating to 18th century village Poland, handmade as symbols of harvest and new year happiness.
