Pampshade
Japan
Japanese artist Yukiko Morita has been obsessed with bread since her student days working in a bakery, where watching beautiful unsold loaves being thrown away sparked an idea. What if bread could have a second life?
Enter Pampshade: real baguettes, croissants and batards, hollowed out by hand, fitted with LEDs and carefully preserved to become wonderfully surreal little lamps. Each one is handmade in her Kobe studio, celebrating every crack, crust and gloriously wonky shape. Deliciously clever.
